A Halfling of Another Kind

Arbra thought learning magic would solve all her problems. Instead, it made her a monster.

High in the snowy peaks of Mount Rathba, Arbra has apprenticed herself to the cruel sorceror, Gruzl, desperate to learn the magic her wood nymph father failed to pass down. But years of assisting Gruzl—enduring his brutality toward magical creatures and herself—has taken their toll. This isn’t the first time she’s tried to leave, but it will be the last.

Freeing herself and rescuing the imprisoned fairies and a snake won’t be easy. She’s locked in a cage meant for chickens. Though she’s never been one for making plans, she has to try something—anything!—even if it gets her killed.

A Halfling of Another Kind is a short story about transformation and redemption, where magic demands a price, second chances come with consequences, and the world is as unsettling as it is wondrous.
